A collective volume, a tool for navigation and understanding of contemporary artistic practice in the relationship with technology and scientific research. starting from the experience of the Digicult observatory.

The book is based on the experience of Digicult, one of the most important independent international online platforms, which over the last fifteen years has monitored the evolution and impact of technologies and science on art, design and society. Contemporary. Through a series of essays written by some of its most important authors and a rich collection of interviews with sixty artists and designers who have marked the history of New Media Art from 2005 to today, the volume highlights how the codes and languages ​​of technological art are the ideal tools for a multidisciplinary approach, a radical observation and a profound understanding of the cultural and expressive reality that characterizes the new millennium. Based on a plurality of voices and perspectives, as a completely unique collection of reflections, experiences and practices of a generation of artists, designers, critics and curators, the book aims to recover the experience of the Digicult observatory by certifying its importance in contexts of national and international New Media Art and highlighting the uniqueness of his experience of cultural activism.

The time we live in, the time of constant cultural, aesthetic and moral evolution of the relationship progress-humans-environment, offers to each and every one of us the following question: what is the impact technologies and sciences have on art, design and contemporary culture? This book, absolutely unique in the Italian editorial art criticism panorama, guides the reader though the elements of the interdisciplinary context made up of independent self-productions, institutions, workshops and industries, a context that explores the relationship between hybrid markets at the confluence of art, design, architecture, sound, fashion, performance, scientific research and technological innovation. The book presents an exploration of protagonists and experiences in the contemporary, an exploration which is enriched by the interviews with the field experts. This analysis is aimed at examining experiences and highlighting strategies as well as at sharing a possible economic model for art and culture.
